|---|---|
| How long does my CD production job take? | Throughout most of the year, if your job comes in to us exactly to our specifications then within 10 working days. Sometimes there are busy periods when this time may expand up to 14 days | Can I have a re-run in the future? | Yes, your CD is manufactured using a Metal Stamper which is kept for possible future production | How long can a CD be? | The maximum running time for a CD is 74mins for stereo audio or 650Mb of Data, this can now be extended to 79mins for stereo audio or 700 Mb of data, be careful to follow the Philips CD standard so as not to create problems with long discs | What formats can I supply the master in? | The preferred format is as a CD-R exactly set up as the finished product. This applies to both Audio and Data discs. Other Audio Formats can be accepted but would normally incur additional charges. Please get in touch to discuss your exact requirements. | What is Glass-mastering? | Glass mastering is a process that all Pressed (Replicated) discs need to go through. Unlike CD-R where the music or data is burn't on to the disc by laser, using a Philips compatible CD writer, Pressed discs are injection moulded. They are stamped onto a mould by a Metal Stamper which contains all of the data or music for your disc. In the Glass mastering process a laser etches the data from your supplied CD Master on to a glass disc which is used to transfer your data onto the stamper. It is the Stamper that is stored for re-runs and not the glass master which actually gets destroyed. | How Many Colours can I have on the disc? | We screen print your discs and for each colour we have to make up a separate screen, typically 5 colours is maximum. You can specify the exact Pantone colours required or we can print CMYK Process. Additional colours can be printed as a base coat or over the top as required | What is colour matching? | Colour matching is where we use the Pantone system to print exactly the colours required on the discs. The inks are mixed for each job in accordance to the Pantone specification. This works for all Spot Colours (these are usually specified for all corporate work). If a picture disc is required using the CMYK Process we require a printed proof to match output. | Can I have non-standard packaging? | Yes of course, we can source all kinds of CD cases and holders from standard jewel cases with black, coloured or clear trays, to Card cases, Aluminium Tins, Liquid Gel Wallets etc. We can also incorporate your disc into presentation wallets or mounted on books etc. Please contact us with your requirements | How do I get a Barcode? | We are licensed for Barcoding for retail point of sale transactions. Our Series of EAN13 Barcodes are available to you, which can be either incorporated into your artwork or used on adhesive labels so not to influence the design of your product. (Please note you cannot use the Barcode Number for any other product other than the one it was made up for. | What is an enhanced CD? | An Enhanced CD is a disc which contains both standard Audio, playable in a CD player as normal, and data files which are accessible via a computer. The data is usually a video clip etc. - this can give the feeling of added value to your customer. An Enhanced CD is normally NOT an Audio disc which has hidden (bonus) audio tracks. If this is a standard Red Book Audio CD then this is basically a track without an identifiable start ID in the CD table of contents. It can give an extra value added appeal but is still an Audio CD. |
