The Ferandina Duo's members have a wide-ranging repertoire and a wealth of experience
in performing for recitals, corporate events, private functions and royal occasions. In recent
years venues have included Southwark Cathedral, St, Mary's Cathedral, the Victoria and
Albert Museum, St. Martin-in-the-Fields, Lambeth Palace and Kensington Gardens. As a
chamber musician Karen has held residencies at the Cumberland Hotel, London, whilst
Micheila has appeared on the QE2 cruises and is currently holding a residency at 1
Lombard Street, Bank.
After graduating from Trinity College of Music, London, Karen completed a postgraduate
course in orchestral training at the Guildhall School of music and Drama. During her studies
she received several awards and received musical guidance from Oliver Butterworth, Detlef
Hahn and the Brindisi String Quartet.
Karen's musical interests have always been diverse; having played Irish traditional music
since early childhood, she now manages to combine this with a classical career, being in
constant demand as an orchestral player, whilst performing in an Irish contemporary duo
which has held a residency at The Cumberland Hotel, Marble Arch.
As a chamber musician, Karen worked with the Bodnar string Quartet for four years, during
which time the ensemble made several guest appearances at the Dartington International
Festival. She now leads the Corona String Quartet, and in recent years has appeared as a
soloist on BBC TV, and as an orchestral musician at the Barbican and the South Bank Centres.
Micheila Connolly is currently working as a freelance musician in and around London. After
completing the postgraduate course in accompaniment at the Royal College of Music, she
was awarded a studentship from the Leverhulme Trust for the repetiteur course at the
Benjamin Britten International Opera School at the Royal College of Music. Since graduating
in 2001, she has enjoyed being involved in all facets of music performance, ranging from
classical to cocktail music. She has given solo and duo performances in many festivals and
competitions including Aldeburgh, Utrecht, Edinburgh Fringe and Dartington.
Micheila has given concerts on the QE2 and held residencies at 1 Lombard, the Meriden,
Piccadilly, the Connaught and Mayfair hotels, as well as performing at a range of corporate
events and functions at venues around the country.
Other interests include working with contemporary composers to perform and record music,
and working with choirs and opera groups for productions and concerts.

These talented musicians have received great critical acclaim for their work and continue to
enthral audiences wherever they perform. Recitals are performed frequently in London and
across the South-East, the most recent of which took place at St. James' Piccadilly, for the
Beethoven Society of Europe.
In addition to their collaboration as Ferandina, both Karen and Micheila are highly sought-after
professionals. Both have been invited as guest artists on numerous occasions to appear at the
Dartington International Festival; in addition Micheila has given solo and duo performances at
Aldburgh, Utrecht and for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Karen and Micheila both trained professionally at some of the country's leading music
conservatoires; Karen graduated from Trinity College of Music in 1994 and went on to complete
a post-graduate course in violin studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, whilst
Micheila won a scholarship (supported by the Leverhulme Trust) enabling her to study on the
